A new ticketing system will be introduced on Jūrmala city buses this week and the registration options for the Jūrmala resident card will be improved. Ticket registration will be faster and more convenient. Each passenger has to register their free journey with the electronic registrar, and the proof of travel (ticket) will now be in electronic format only.

Main changes

  • Passengers who use a Jūrmala resident card or a student card for free travel will no longer be issued paper tickets after registering the card – the travel document (ticket) will be in electronic format only.
  • A reception desk will be installed at the middle door of the buses, where passengers with a Jūrmala resident’s card or student ID will be able to register their journey and receive an electronic ticket. The electronic ticket will be available on the portal https://karte.jurmala.lv; the ticket will also be sent by e-mail if indicated on the portal or in the application for a Jūrmala resident card.
  • Free travel with a Jūrmala resident card or student card can also be registered with the bus driver, in which case no paper ticket will be issued.
  • When checking tickets, the ticket checker will compare the passenger’s Jūrmala resident card or student card number with the list of cards registered in the vehicle.
  • Tickets can be purchased for cash or with a payment card from the bus driver, as before. For these passengers, the bus driver will issue printed tickets as before.

Reminder to passengers: to avoid any unpleasant misunderstandings on the bus, don’t forget to register your Jūrmala resident card! Registration of the card is compulsory – only registration of the Jūrmala resident card will ensure a valid ticket for the journey.
